The Hoover WindTunnel canister vacuum uses the same powerful WindTunnel technology as their upright vacuum but in a canister style. The air ducts inside the Hoover WindTunnel canister vacuum are designed to provide a strong air stream increasing the dirt pickup capabilities as well as keep dirt particles away from the spinning components forcing them into the bagless dirt cup.
The Hoover WindTunnel Canister Vacuum features a powerful 12 amp motor and has large soft wheels on the canister making it easy to maneuver. The electronic controls for the vacuum are mounted on the handle for easy access and include an on/off switch, variable suction control and adjustable agitator speed. Hoover WindTunnel Canister Vacuum Reviews
The Hoover Windtunnel canister vacuum appears to be a very popular vacuum based on the large number of reviews we found for it. Owners of the vacuum stated how incredible the suction is and how well it picks up pet hair. The aggressive beater bar is also very powerful and will actually pull you forward if you are not ready for it when you turn it on. Even with all the suction power the Hoover Windtunnel canister vacuum is still very quite and two people can carry on a conversation while it is running.
The controls to turn the beater bar on/off as well as to adjust the suction and turn the vacuum on/off are all located on the handle which makes them very easy to reach. The 22 foot extension cord automatically rewinds into the canister by depressing a foot pedal. There is a built in washable HEPA filter in the collecting container which is protected from debris by 2 flaps so it only needs cleaning every few months. The vacuum can also be used by tall or short people as well as reach under a king size bed thanks to the long extension handle. Several comments from owners of the Hoover WindTunnel Canister Vacuum include "This vacuum is absolutely wonderful" and "I love this vacuum". The included suction powered hand tool is great for cleaning stairs, upholstery and hard to reach places and several people said it works wonderfully.
We did find some negative reviews for the Hoover WindTunnel Canister Vacuum. These include complaints about the small dirt cup that fills quickly and needs to be emptied often as well as problems with the electrical switches not working properly. The vacuum is also pretty heavy at 30lbs but owners did say the weight is spread out over all the parts and the canister has large wheels so it does move around pretty good. A few of the tools do not store on the vacuum so they need to be carried around separately and some of them don't fit very well and need to be "crammed" on so they don't fall off. Some more issues are the extension cord doesn't always retract properly and the hose doesn't rotate where it connect to the canister so the hose can become twisted and kinked after awhile. The vacuum is reported to be not that great for hard flooring surfaces, the power nozzle belt pops off repeatedly on a few vacuums and several people had multiple parts failures after 6 to 9 months of use.
After reading the many positive and negative reviews for the Hoover WindTunnel Canister Vacuum we think it represents good value and recommend it if you are looking for a bagless canister style vacuum in this price range. If most of your flooring is carpet and you have lots of stairs and hard to reach places to vacuum it would be a good choice. If most of your flooring is hardwood or tile you should probably look at another vacuum.
